Chelsea showed they were in for big things tonight.
Premier league champions Chelsea beat Atletico Madrid at their new home to go top of their group on what was an exciting and intense match.
Chelsea started Hazard alongside Morata for the first time this season and Hazard showed signs of what chelsea missed in the earlier part of the season when he hits the bar in the first half.
The Belgian’s link up play with Morata was brilliant and evident in Morata’s first goal.
Chelsea started the game finely but went behind when a clumsy Luiz pulled down an Atletico Madrid player in the box and Griezman coolly slot it past Courtois to give Atletico the lead into the break.
Chelsea came out stronger and pushed forward and ultimately it yielded when Hazard crossed a nice ball for Morata and he glanced it in.
Atletico threatened to score again after Torres was brought in but couldn’t break the Chelsea defence, Hazard, Fabregas and Morata were removed with Manchester city still in mind, bringing in Batshuayi, Christensen and Willian, which later resulted in goal.
A one two pass with William before a cross by Alonso for Batshuayi gave Chelsea all three points as they become the first team to beat Atletico at their new ground and remain top of their group’s table.
