I had to leave Chelsea

Former Chelsea striker, Bertrand Traore has admitted he had to leave Chelsea.

The Burkina Faso international didn’t have much time to prove his worth at the bridge before leaving for Olympique Lyon.

The former young Chelsea forward scored twice in ten games for Chelsea before eventually leaving on loan to Ajax last season.

The versatile striker helped to steer Ajax to the final of Europa league before returning back to Chelsea.

He then left for Lyon in the summer ending a 4 years relationship with Chelsea which began in 2013 for a fee around £9m.

Now at Ajax he has fully integrated into his new environment and has no regret about leaving Chelsea. He told daily mail in a chat, “Going from Chelsea was the best decision for me. I am enjoying myself, as a young players you can only improve if you are playing every week,”

“I enjoyed my time at Chelsea and when I had opportunities to show what I could do on the pitch, I took them with both hands. But there weren’t any guarantee I would play.

“Yes, I would be happy if it was me in the Chelsea first-team playing every weekend, but this is football and you have to take decisions. Along with Chelsea, I took the decision to sign for Lyon and I am happy with that.

“Why not, it is up to me to develop and progressas a player and prove that I am good enough to play in the Premier League.

The 22 year old forward still believes he can play for Chelsea as he aims at developing first,“Others went back, it is a possibility. I have to focus on Lyon, do my best and see what I do in the future,” he added.
