Fire razes 22 shops, machines in Anambra

No less than 22 shops, a few machines, completed items, crude materials and other property were wrecked after a fire occurrence at a mechanical market in Awada, Onitsha in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Tuesday.

The market, it was accumulated, is a modern bunch where polythene materials are delivered.

The occurrence, which happened at about 10.10pm at Ekene workshop territory of the market, our reporter learnt, might have been caused by an electric start.

The inferno , it was assembled was put out by inhabitants of the territory following the disappointment of firefighters to react rapidly.

An occupant of the region, Ekene Chukwudi, stated, “Before the Fire Service authorities came the fire had just been put out by inhabitants of the region who hurried to the scene.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, affirmed the episode.

He affirmed that around 22 shops and other property were decimated amid the episode.

Mohammed, “Endless supply of a pain call, a police watch group joined to Awada division driven by the Divisional Police Officer, Tony Adeyi, raced to the scene and cordoned off the territory for protect mission and to keep marauders from exploiting the circumstance.

“The Fire Service office was reached yet before their entry, the fire was in the end ceased through purposeful endeavors by the network.”

The officer, who said a comparable episode happened at a similar area in February, expressed the police had started examinations concerning the occurrence.
