Nigeria Afropop artiste, Burna Boy has emerged the winner of the “Best International Act” at the 2019 BET awards.
The Spaceship Music lead act has been on fire since last year, dropping several hit jams, one of which is ‘Ye’ from his ‘Outside’ album.
The event held earlier today at the Microsoft Theatre where Burna Boy’s mum and manager, Bose Ogulu went on stage to receive the award in Burna’s absence.
While receiving the award, she said; “Thank you very much BET, thank you, Africa. That is the constituency for which we got noticed. The message from Burna would be that every black person should please remember that were you Africans before you became anything else.”
Burna Boy beat off stiff competition from Aka (South Africa), Aya Nakamura (France), Dave (U.K.), Dosseh (France), Giggs (U.K.) and Mr Eazi to win the award.
